Lost in the Glow

“Hi… hello there.”
“Are you talking to me?”
“Oh—you’re on the phone.
Your earbuds, I see.”

It’s a beautiful day,
the rainbow burns bright,
but lost in your screen,
it slips out of sight.

When did we become
so mechanically bound
that we no longer notice
the beauty around?

The trees stand waiting,
the sun still shines,
while creatures pass unseen
through the corners of our lives.

Hands once reached outward,
eyes lifted above—
now faces glow softly
in artificial light’s hum.

I wander among
a sea of bent heads,
silent together,
yet somehow unfed.

The world keeps calling
through birdsong and breeze,
but few seem to hear it
beyond their machines.

Perhaps one day
we’ll finally see
that life was happening
beyond technology.
