My Little Rita

I love my cat with all my heart,
though she can be a brat.
She begs for treats both day and night—
no wonder she’s so fat.

She loves to jump up on my altar,
a Goddess, she won’t dispute.
A perfect familiar she is not,
but she’s really very cute.

She’s covered head to tail in fluff,
even underneath her paws;
she slips and slides when trying to run—
a comical lost cause.

Rita is her given name,
but “Fluffy Bitch” fits too;
if human, cat, or ghost offends,
a royal fit ensues.

But she adores her mom and dad,
she never gets enough;
and everywhere we pet her,
ends up buried in her fluff.

Yet I don’t mind her attitude—
my spicy señorita;
I love her from pink nose to tail,
my special little Rita.

Offer whatever name you wish to be known by at the hearth today — real or imagined — we look forward to welcoming your words into the circle.
